Since you’re doing your homework on who to trust with your trophy, we feel it would make sense to tell you a little more about the Taxidermist here at Shoal Creek Taxidermy.
In addition to owning and operating his taxidermy company with his wife Chrissy in Alabama, Matt will also be teaching at Taxidermy Tech.
Taxidermy Tech provides one-on-one and small-group taxidermy training as well as ongoing mentoring for aspiring taxidermists. They have a location in Ashville, AL and Pensacola, FL.
Matt Harris – Owner/ Taxidermist
Shoal Creek Taxidermy was established by Matt and his wife Chrissy. Matt’s passion for hunting and fishing lead him to taxidermy after spending 20 years in the Army. Matt has worked for several other taxidermists and attended several classes and courses to help develop the skills needed to be a taxidermist. He has worked on North American, African and Asian mounts throughout his career.
Periodically Matt has competed in several competitions where his work has won awards, including:
- 2012 Red Ribbon and Governors Award for waterfowl
- 2019 Blue Ribbon for Game heads
- 2021 Red Ribbon and Top choice Award for Mammal
- 2021 Red Ribbon for Lifesize Habitat
Chrissy Harris – Co-Owner/ Manager
Chrissy, Matt’s wife, spent several years as a manager for a large retail store. So, it’s only natural that she handles all the office work, finances, and supply orders.
Additionally, her creative eye makes her a natural to handle the majority of the habitat work. When time allows, you will see her working alongside Matt helping to put mounts together.
More than likely, she will be the one to call you when your order is finished and ready to go home.
